Trafficking Native Creatives for Direct-Sold Campaigns

These instructions will show you how to traffic a direct-sold campaign using native creative.  

Configuring your native campaign and line item

The campaign and line item creation process is the same with the exception of adding creatives. If you are unfamiliar with the standard campaign setup process, please refer to the following articles:

Adding native creatives

Once you have reached the stage in the line item setup to add a creative, select “Start Building Ads” or the smaller “Add” button on the side of the “Linked Creatives” section.

In the window that appears, select “Native Ads” from the top menu bar. The “Native Ad Builder” form will appear.

  • Ad Name: Name your new creative
  • Click Url: Input the click URL
  • Blueprint: Select the blueprint the native creative should follow

After selecting the desired blueprint, the remaining fields will update to reflect which fields are required and which are optional, along with character maximums set up for each field. The creative character counts must meet the character maximums set at the blueprint or the line item will not serve. If you need to make any adjustments to these settings, please contact your LiveIntent account manager. 

BEST PRACTICE: If you are copy/pasting your text assets into the Native Ad Builder, use a text editor or copy from a plain text environment to ensure unwanted hidden characters are removed.

      • File size limits: 250 KB
    • Please note that images must meet the minimum requirement set at the blueprint level. You may upload larger images, but it is recommended to maintain the same aspect ratio.

    • Upload: Add the image file
      • Supported files types: .jpg, .png
      • File size limits: 250 KB
  • Third Party Trackers: Add any third-party trackers or external IDs, if required

 

Asset Settings

This section is scheduled to be removed from Direct Sold native creatives and does not impact delivery of the line item. No adjustments are needed in this section.

Example Preview

After you have added your native creative assets and asset settings, you will see a preview of your native creative in the ‘Example Preview’, where you’ll be able to toggle between both Desktop and Mobile versions.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Your ad preview may look expanded in the ad builder workflow but don't worry. Blueprint sizes are doubled internally for best resolution upon rendering. All final renders will be according to your ad slot’s set width and height in your LiveTag.

  • Save & Add to Line Item
    • You can now save and add your creative to your line item by selecting the ‘Add to Line Item’ button. If your native creative looks incorrect please notify your LiveIntent account manager.

 

Linking line items to native ad slots

The final step in trafficking a native ad is linking your line item to your ad slot. On the line item details page, you should see an option to “Link Ad Slots”. Once selected, another window will pop up requesting you to select ad slots to link to this line item.

The ad slots you can link to are restricted to the ad slots that support the blueprint used for your native creatives. If you have more than one native creative or added standard IAB sizes to the line item, you will have the ability to link all eligible ad slots for both native and display based on the sizes allowed.

If you see this message:

There are no ad slots that support the creative sizes associated with this line item.

Please check the selected creative's dimensions match the supported
dimensions in the ad slots you want to link.

Then you do not have any ad slots that support the blueprint you used. Please reach out to your LiveIntent account manager or check the ad slot you are trying to link.

 

Confirmation

Once the line item has been linked to the native ad slot your campaign will be ready to go.

Make sure to double-check that your line item is set to 'Active' prior to your flight start data, otherwise it will not serve. You can set your line item to 'Active' by editing the line item Status (see Step 5).
