How to Set Up Your LiveIntent + Google Ad Manager Integration

Below you will find the step-by-step instructions for setting up your LiveIntent Google Ad Manager (GAM) integration (formerly known as DoubleClick for Publishers, or DFP). If you have any questions or issues during this setup process, please contact your LiveIntent Account Manager. 

Note: Upon the completion of these steps and setup confirmation from your Account Manager, you can expect your integration (inventory sync) to be active within 2 weeks.

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Send your GAM Network Code (ex. 90240746) to your Account Manager.

  • You can locate your GAM Network Code in the Admin Tab under Network Settings > All Network Settings

Step 2:  Create your Service account.

Make sure you are still logged into your GAM account, and in a separate tab or window open the Google Developers Console Credentials page.

Note: If you do not have the option for “Select a Project”, you will need to select “Create a Project”. Please follow the directions in Step 3 of this document to create a new project.

2a: Click ‘Select a project’.

2b: Select your relevant project (this should be your GAM account) and click ‘Open’

2c: Under “Service account keys”, click on the “Manage service accounts” link on the right side of the page.

2d: Click the “Create Service Account” link at the top of the next page.

2e: Fill out the relevant details to create your new service account:

  • Enter the desired name for your new service account.
    • This will auto-populate the “Service account ID” field below it. You will need this name for adding a new service account user
  • Do not select anything in the “Role” drop-down
  • Select the checkbox for “Furnish a new private key”, and select P12 as the key type
  • Select the checkbox for “Enable G Suite Domain-wide Delegation”
  • Click “Create”

2f: A pop-up notification will appear stating ‘Service account created’ and a file will also download to your computer that includes the ‘Private key’ password. You will need to send this password file to your Account Manager.

Step 3: Create a Project

Note: Skip this step if you do not need to create a new project.

3a: Click the ‘+’ symbol in the upper right corner of the Project Selection window to create a new project.

3b: Name your project and click “Create”.

3c: Select “Create credentials” and choose “Service account key” from the drop-down menu.

3d: Select ‘New Service Account’ from the drop down menu.

3e: Fill out the relevant details to create your new project.

  • Enter the desired name for your new service account.
    • This will auto-populate the “Service account ID” field below it. You will need this name for adding a new service account user
  • Do not select anything in the “Role” drop-down
  • Select the checkbox for “Furnish a new private key”, and select P12 as the key type
  • Select the checkbox for “Enable G Suite Domain-wide Delegation” (if this option is presented to you)
  • Click “Create”

3f: If you receive a pop-up notification asking if you want to create the service account with no Role assigned, please click “Create without role” to confirm.

3g: A pop-up notification will appear stating “Service account and key created” and a P12 file will also download to your computer that contains the ‘Private key’ password.

You will need to send this password file to your LiveIntent Account Manager.

Step 4: Create a new service account user with the administrator role.

4a: Click on “Add a Service Account User”

  • Return / Log in to your GAM account and click on the “Admin” tab
  • Click on “Global Settings” in the left-hand navigation menu, then “All network settings”
  • Locate and click the “Add a service account user” button

4b: Enter the name and email address for the service account you created in Step 2.

Note: Please refer to the “Service accounts” tab in the Google Developers Console page to access the name of your service account and email.

  • Click on the “Manage service account user” link to see the name and email information
  • The name is under the “Service account name” column
  • The email is under the “Service account ID” column

4c: Fill out the relevant details to create your new service account user.

  • Enter the name and email address for the service account you created in Step 2.
  • Select “All Entities” for the “Teams” drop-down
  • Select “Administrator” for the “Role” drop-down
  • Click “Save”

4d. Send the following information to your LiveIntent CSM.

  • The service account name
  • The service account email address
  • The P12 private key password file (from Step 2)

Your Account Manager will configure this service account as a new user in LiveIntent’s GAM account.

Your Account Manager will also update you when your LiveIntent inventory has been synchronized to your GAM account.

Step 5: Configure the Gmail account with read-only access in your GAM account.

Note: The Gmail account will be sent to you from your LiveIntent Account Manager.

5a: Navigate to create a new user

  • Go to the “Admin” tab and click on “Access & authorization” > “Users
  • Click on “New User”

5b: Create a new user account

  • Enter the name for the Gmail account
  • Enter and confirm the email for the Gmail account
  • Select “All Entities” for the “Teams” drop-down
  • Select “Read only” for the “Role” drop-down
  • Click “Save”

 

Step 6: Complete the integration process.

Send confirmation to your LiveIntent CSM that permissioning is complete for both accounts.

Your Account Manager will now initiate inventory sync between LiveIntent and GAM, thereby exposing your LiveIntent inventory in GAM.
